Regardless of its grandiose title, Netflix’s “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” turns out to be surprisingly forgettable.
In this week’s episode of the Original Content material podcast, we’re joined by Brian Heater to evaluation the film, which options Zac Efron as serial killer Ted Bundy and Lily Collins as his initially unsuspecting girlfriend Liz Kendall.
The film is ostensibly about their partnership, but director Joe Berlinger and screenwriter Michael Werwie can’t pretty look to commit — they finish up dramatizing the broader story of Bundy’s capture and trials, when only intermittently returning to Kendall in the film’s second half.
Bundy’s actual murders also get quick shrift. Whilst a single may argue that we currently know he’s a killer and don’t necessarily require to see grisly recreations of his operate, by becoming so coy about Bundy’s murderous side, the film ends up feeling strangely unbalanced and empty.
We also continue our discussion of the final season of “Game of Thrones,” with a evaluation of the typically-frustrating episode “The Last of the Starks.” We’re specifically concerned about what’s becoming set up as the show’s endgame, and exactly where it’s taking Daenerys.
